Dr. Charles R. Drew, (June 3, 1904-April 1, 1950) the physician that discovered blood plasma (the liquid portion of the blood that holds the cells.) Dr. Drew discovered that only this part of the blood could be banked for blood transfusions. His contributions to the science of blood transfusions continues to save lives everyday. Drew's discovery did much to secure American victory in World War II and every war since.
