Joseph Jackson is the fourth of eight children, born to Ernest and Octavia Jackson in Harvey, Louisiana (Jefferson Parish). At 17, Josephy worked as an oil field tool maintenance helper; at 18 he was accepted into the US Army, and went to a TV repair school at night. He later owned a radio and TV repair shop while developing his inventions.
